Delete your account
You can permanently delete your Chordfier account and its associated Cloud Sync data directly in the app. No separate website login is required.
Steps in the app
- Open Chordfier on the Android device where you are signed in.
- Tap your profile picture in the top-right corner.
- Tap Delete account.
- Read the confirmation and tap Delete account again.
- Confirm your Google account when Chordfier asks. This check is always required.
- Keep Chordfier open and connected until it shows that the deletion is complete.

Data deleted
- Your Chordfier sign-in account in Firebase Authentication.
- The Cloud Sync data stored with that account: the account record, folders, session information, chord results, saved compositions, and synchronization records.
- On the device where you delete the account, after the cloud deletion succeeds: that account's library, its recordings and imported audio, their enhanced playback copies, and the safety copies of the app's database made during app updates.
Data that is not deleted
- Your other devices. A phone or tablet where you used the same account stops using it the next time Chordfier checks the account, but the library and recordings stored on that device are not erased; they are only no longer shown. To remove them, clear Chordfier's storage in Android settings or uninstall the app on that device.
- Leftover files on this device. Some technical copies can remain in Chordfier's private storage: a cached copy of synchronized library information, and temporary files in the app's cache, such as a cached copy of your Google profile picture. If the app's library database was ever replaced, for example after it was damaged, audio recorded before that can also remain, because the app no longer has a record of it. None of this is visible in the app. Clearing Chordfier's cache in Android settings removes the temporary files; clearing Chordfier's storage or uninstalling the app removes all of these leftovers, along with everything else Chordfier keeps on the device.
- Items made without an account. Sessions and recordings you made on the device while signed out, and did not import into the account, belong to no account and stay in the app.
- Purchases. Google Play keeps its own records of your purchases. RevenueCat, the subscription service Chordfier uses, keeps its customer record for your former Chordfier user identifier, with any purchase and subscription records linked to it.
- Deletion record. Chordfier keeps a record that the account identifier was deleted, with the time, so that nothing can be written to the deleted account again. It contains no library content, email address, or name.
- Analytics. If you turned on anonymous usage analytics, deleting the account does not reset it. Turn off Anonymous usage in Settings to stop it and reset the analytics data on the device.
- Provider logs and backups. Service providers may retain limited security logs and backup copies for the periods required by law or their platform obligations.
Delete some data without deleting the account
To remove only selected data, open History in Chordfier and delete the relevant session or folder. A deleted session leaves the library on that device, and the audio file that device holds for it is deleted. Deleting a folder removes only the folder; the sessions that were in it stay in your library. A record of the deleted item (such as its title and chords) stays hidden in Chordfier's private storage on that device, marked as deleted, until you clear Chordfier's storage, uninstall the app, or delete the account on that device. A safety copy of the app's database, which Chordfier makes during some app updates, can also hold the item's record if it was made before you deleted the item; Chordfier removes the copy when the app is opened some weeks after the copy was made, and also when you delete the account on that device.
While Cloud Sync is active (Chordfier Pro), the item also leaves the library on your other devices, and the audio those devices hold for it is deleted there too once the deletion reaches them. Its synchronized record is kept, marked as deleted, until you delete the account. Without Cloud Sync, a copy synchronized earlier stays in your account until you delete the account.
If deletion cannot be completed
Reconnect the device to the internet and start the deletion again from the app; Chordfier continues from where it stopped. For additional help, use the support contact described below.
If you no longer have the app
You can ask for the deletion of your account and its Cloud Sync data without reinstalling Chordfier. Write to the support contact listed under Developer contact on Chordfier's Google Play store page, from the email address of the Google account you used in Chordfier, and ask for account deletion. We may ask you to confirm that you own the account.
